I am an MMA fighter with Combat Sports and i won my last fight, but what would cause a delayed knockout.? I slammed the guy down, his knee hit my face and i was only seeing a little bit of stars, but when my fight was over i went into the shower room and just fell over and woke up on the floor. I have never had that happen. I am 6 and 0 but how did this happen, why and what can i do to prevent it.

dehydration. It’s down to the way you cut weight for a fight.

If you have headaches after the fight that will not go away, you may want to see a Dr. Not all head injures show up right away. Sometimes there is a delay.

You may have had a concussion and did not know it. They can cause this sometimes especially if you sit down or stand up or stand up and bend over quickly. The affects of a concussion along with being dehydrated, and physically exhausted all could have been factors in this happening

Agreed, definately should see a doctor

    Whatever.
Sounds like a big fat lie Mr 6 and 0.

You mean to tell me that you had on one around you (trainers, members of the athletics commission, medical staff) that could tell you anything about what happened?

I think that if your really stupid enough to ask a question as dumb as “why did I pass out after a fight” that the last thing you need to do is learn any more about fighting.

Go study Tai Chi black out.

ps. LOL at your stupid tuff guy avatar.

    Salutations,
Isn’t there a Pokemon that sings, and everyone around it falls asleep? maybe that’s what happened. You realized you took damage to your head, and did not immediatly get checked out? seeing stars is always a bad sign. Cheers

Oh and for Patrick. I have studied Tai Chi amongst other things for many years. Does this make me less a Martial artist than you?

You got a concussion during the fight and your brain started to bleed. Unfortunately it kept bleeding until your brain lost enough oxygen, causing you to faint. Do you still feel dizzy, have vertigo, nausea? Any blackouts lately? There is a possible subdural, intracranial, or epidural hematoma inside your skull. This actually serious enough so that you can actually go to the ER, tell them what happened, and they’ll let you right in without waiting in line. You need an MRI. You need plenty of rest (at least 10 days depending on the situation).

Did you take any drugs or supplements before or after he fight?

it was a concussion. the damage you took from the knee was just enough to stun you at the time but eventually caused a shutdown. it is your bodys way of protecting its self from more damage
