There is no “ultimate fighting”, you are trying to refer to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) the organization that presents MMA fighters.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship existed before the term MMA came along.
Back in the early 1990’s the first UFC bouts were similar to Toughman tournaments, however the rules were completely liberal and pads were optional. The person who wins at the end was called the baddest man on the planet because he fought and defeated everyone from Martial Art Masters, Kickboxing Champions and professional Wrestlers.
Sometime later the term MMA was coined, because people found that not one particular Martial Art could be effective in winning the championship. So the people in the game began using the most effective styles from the various martial arts, boxing, wrestling etc. This is what is called Mixed Martial Arts.
Therefore MMA is a conglomerate of styles, that is used in organization such as UFC, EliteXC, WEC, StrikeForce etc.

no difference. MMA is practiced in Ultimate Fighting. Thats why before fights it shows the fighters MMA record.
Anderson Silva for example has never been defeated in Ultimate Fighting but the recored they show has 4 losses I believe. These 4 losses are from previous mixed martial arts fights (MMA FIGHTS) outside of the UFC.

There is no such thing as “ultimate fighting” thats what MMA posers call UFC fighters. MMA (mixed martial arts) is UFC, Strikeforce, and whats going to be on CBS. People call UFC “ultimate fighting” because UFC stands for ultimate fighting championship. Don’t EVER call that ultimate fighting. That just screams POZER.

UFC, or Ultimate Fighting Championship, is just a league, not a form of fighting like mma, or mixed martial arts is. The UFC fighters are mma fighters. CBS will be airing mma fighters of Elite Xtreme Combat, which is the mma branch of ProElite Inc, so the fights will be mma fights. Hope this helps

Ultimate Fighting is just a program of MMA, but UFC will not be aired on CBS. Ultimate Fighting championship has a contract with Spike TV. What you are seeing on CBS is the AA’s and AAA’s of UFC if you will. Kimbo Slice (Kevin Ferguson) appears on CBS if that helps at all.

MMA is the name of the sport.
Ultimate fighting is a brand name. There are many different brands, the fights on CBS will be a different one (Elitexc)
The sport will be MMA
