ive been watching ufc for a long time now and never miss a ufc event.i even had the pleasure to watch ufc 69 live…..but after that nite and the following ufc events that followed changed me…in my eyes i wanted GSP holding that belt for along time….lackluster and over hyped fights…..liddell losing two fights in a row….and all these badarse fighters from pride not impressive…..now to top all this off Couture is leaving….nomore fedor vs randy…..nomore liddell vs silva that means something…….and nomore great cards….I THINK IM LOSING INTREST IN MMA…Here is the question is anyone else thinking of calling it quits and stop watching and maybe view ufc.com time to time just 2 see whats going on????bc this addiction seams to be wearing off…ttt

I think you have to keep in mind a couple of things with some of the fighters that I will refer to as old guard. They have helped establish the UFC and MMA over several or more years and many are not young fighters. Secondly it is just like any other sport; once developed it evolves and tactics, strategy, and technique as well as training methods get more sophisticated. Old guard fighters in many cases have had to alter their training, strategy and redevelop themselves to stay competitive and/or on top. Eventually their bodies, abilities and skill may not be enough to stay there as newer, younger fighters come on the scene and gain in experience. Look at boxing and the heavy weight division; people are attracted to and watching fighters that have been fighting for twenty plus years who are in the twilight of their careers based on what they did in their prime. While I don’t think you will see that so much in MMA and the UFC there is a whole new generation coming onto the scene who may not be familar to everyone and have a huge fan base like the old guard fighers do but that will change with time. Twenty years from now you will be saying, “I watched Couture or Lidell do this or do that” or “I watched him when he was fighting so-and-so”.
You are literally seeing the birth of a new sport and while I think many of us will miss the old guard fighters there are some up-and-coming fighters that will take their places whom the fans will embrace and follow.

yeah… im hella obsessed with ufc and i no everything… but GSP’s still young and he is the top contender right now and fights the winner of serra vs hughes. GSP said he got a little shake-e in ufc 69 and 50 and those are his only 2 loses…
randy’s quitting cuz he wanted to fight fedor and if he didnt then he wood feel like there was nothing else to prove so he wanted to quit at the TOP and randy isnt the only one quiting… i heard that Hughes, tito, Liddell, and Franklin mite quit if they lose their next fights because they dont compare to the way they used to fight…
there will be hella cool fighters, like tyson griffin and a whole bunch you just need to get used to them

I think the UFC is gonna be in limbo for a bit, the failure to sign Fedor is really awful. Randy resigning is a real low for me. It leaves the HWs all mixed up.
Not to mention the fact that the LHWs are is the same situation. Who deserves to fight Rampage? And the whole Sean Sherk thing, who will take his place?. And Matt Serra being the champ?? Come on. I think Anderson Silva is right where he should be, I don’t think Rich Franklin has a chance.
There is just too much limbo going on right now. Maybe next year things will start to clear up.
We shall see.

every game is a win or lose column. in every match there’s the winner and someone has to take his luck next time.. players also must rest not just a year or more, but for the rest of there lives, when they have shown enough..to let some new faces get into the playground…
the old ufc matches were more wonderful than what we watch now.,

Couture is 44. He can’t fight forever. Ortiz has one fight left on his contract and does not seem like the powerhouse he once was. I think Liddell has thought about hanging it up. The UFC is at a crossroads now. But someone will step up and become the next star.

its money dude. The top guys in either organisation are not getting paid enough to fight, so they are drifting in and out.
They have to spend too much time doing seminars, and crappy movie parts, and radio shows and all that stuff to make any real money, which cuts badly into training.
If they were paid like boxers, and they should be, they could spend all that time fighting, and you would not see so many upset defeats.
Big paydays would fix it all just like that. Boxing had to do the same thing 100 years ago.

Appears you might be obsessing over the big name fighters. They are not the whole show. I enjoy match-up of two non-top-tier guys, like the Pete Sell vs Scott Smith fight. Classic ending.

ive always thought that maintaining stars and champs would be tough in mma just because theres so many different things involved that anyone can lose at any time and even the best fighters have 2 or 3 guys out there who are just bad matchups for them. maybe in a few years you will start to see more guys who are so well rounded and athletically gifted that they dont have that bad matchup, the only guy out there now who i think doesnt have a bad match up is GSP. that being said there are a ton of guys out there who are worth the watch, they just arnt mainstream stars yet, clay guida, john fitch, diego sanchez, shogun, gonzaga, kenflo, karo payrisain, machida, hell even roger huerta, theres alot of those guys who have great fight after great fight and are pretty well rounded, they just need a year or two to develope into stars.
so keep the faith, and forget the old gaurd or liddell, couture, and hughes

MMa is a beautiful thing, i would never watch boxing because it lacks excitment. those guys been (randy, crocop, chuck…) on top for a long time and people at times lose interest or just get out skilled by the younger talent. dana did drop the ball all he had to do is sign fedor let him do one fight, then in 08 have the 2 greatest go at it but hey dana is a moron.

I’ll admit, things might change, but in the end, someone else has to rise to the top…ufc is still competitive….its just time to let someone else shine. Give it time.

to me the ufc has got more interesting now because it is not guaranteed that Chuck Liddell and the other big name fighters will win and dominate everybody like they used to makes it all the more unpredictable and fun my is interest just keeps getting stronger

Your problem is you’re addicted to names. Stop worrying about Liddell and Couture and watch some good fights. At this point I really couldn’t care less if Liddell vs. Silva happened. I think it’s fairly obvious at this point that Chuck is unable to handle a stand up fight with a stand up fighter.
If you didn’t think UFC 76 was a great card something’s wrong. Wait how could you not have been hyped up for Jackson vs. Henderson? Stop thinking about the old guys and try focusing on something like Huerta vs. Guida. Try watching something other than the UFC. You most likely have access to the IFL, if you have Showtime you can get EliteXC, WEC is on VS, and Bodog is on… some… other channel.
I’d rather watch Robbie Lawler than Chuck Liddell any day. Also GSP will reign over 170 from here on out so don’t worry about that.

This isn’t the NBA or NFL where the Bulls will 3-pete or Pats will win SuperBowls it’s fighting/MMA.. if Sean Sherk fought Liddell Sherk can close his eyes and swing and knock him out with one lucky punch, it’s very unpredictable and it is a gamblers worst nightmare! 1 lucky punch and you can lose cash and a fav fighter.
But i love the UFC and i think that it’s time to clean house out with the old and in with the new/younger

I like MMA cause you never know who will win. Also there still thinking that Wandi and chuck will fight. Its your opinion though if your loosing interest. I love MMA but it didn’t make me like boxing any less. I think people liking things cause the hype is whats over rated.

I agree with dustin for once, you are addicted to their names and there are many many great fighters out there working for other organizations. I will admit i was a pride fan long b4 ufc and you have to give the ex- pride fighters a break, for most of them it has been around a year now that any of them have foughtsince coming to the ufc. Plus with differy timed rounds and rules give them time they will find their foot hold. I would like to see how ufc fighters do with a 10 minute first round and kicks to the head qwhile on the ground. It’s ok to be fed up with the ufc but they don’t control mma. Elite xc strickforce, bodog, they have great fights and great fighters. Like the barone frank shamrock fight.

I watch the UFC very often and must say that it is vastly overrated. It is NOWHERE near as fun to watch as a boxing match. 98% of fights end up being snooze fests and all the new big names are getting destroyed with the exception of Rampage. I am going to do just what you said and check ufc.com for results.
