Rampage got handled by rua in pride. so rampage really can’t talk-eventhough he’s funny on ultimate fighter-Rashad and rampage are both awesome fighters hands down. They both defeated chuck liddell-in rampage’s case twice- and both them held the title. That’s an accomplishment in my book.
to my understanding, karate goes by “the best offense is defense” creed.-if i’m wrong I apologize-now we know machida can take punishment. he’s not a paper champion. thai fighters are just animals. a hard style to say the least, but rua studies his opponent in a very precise manner. I think if machida switches his game up and become the aggressor, then I think rua will have a problem.
machida was announced the winner, but the crowd booed because they fought rua won the fight. rua didn’t drop machida, but rua dominated the fight. but judging is more than just who struck more especially when it’s a championship match.
there’s no 1st attack in karate, its all about waiting till the very last millisecond for a counter. for this reason i TOTALLY agree that he shouldve studied his opponent.
i find it frustrating fighting muay thai, they’re sticky mother fuckers!!
i just watched the fight and anyone in there right mind knows rua won, i have people here who have never even watched MMA and they said rua clearly won the fight, this is just bullshit by the ufc i mean come on if u want to call yourself the best MMA org then get some judges that are capable of sight
Rua knows machda’s weakness now and i guarantee rua will go for the knockout. machida needs to spar with thai fighters so he can capture rua’s timing like rua captured machida’s. don’t get me wrong machida is one of my favorite fighters, but he lost from a fighting standpoint not from a judging standpoint.
rua totally broke down machida’s legs-i don’t think machida even checked any of rua’s leg kicks. he brokedown machida’s body with the body kicks. rua methodically broke machida down. you can see machida getting frustrated because machida is used to fighters coming in on him. you can tell rua sparred with karatemen for this fight and you can see that machida was lacking in capturing the timing of a “REAL” muay thai fighter. in the rematch, MACHIDA NEDDS TO BE THE AGGRESSOR BECAUSE-CONT.
even joe and mike even stated it, to beat a champ you have to beat the champ meaning knockdowns, takedowns, knockout, tko, or by points of an extreme margin. to be honest, what saved machida was his takedown defense. rua dominated 4 out of 5 of the rounds. rua broke down mACHIDA’S BODY, he captured machida’s timing, and he was the aggressor. that’s why the crowd booed because rua won the fight, he just didn’t beat machida meaning dropping him.
It was very close game. But Machida won. Shogun succeeded many kicks. But most of them were low kicks. Judges don’t give many points for low kicks because low kicks are easy technique. Shojun had many chances for takedown. But he never succeeded any takedown. Shogun failed to prove that he is superior to a champion. Machida succeeded more good attacks and excellent counterattacks. That’s why he won.
Yes and no. EVERYBODY thinks he won but he lost 48-47. Dana thinks he won, Joe Steveson, Wand Silva, Yahoo Sports, ESPN. You name it they think Shoggun won. But the judges are stupid.
