I think the only real diference is the objectives.MMA is manely for sport competition, and combatives for street fighting. The good thing about there being so many doochbags, you know, the ones that critisize techniques and training methods from the saftey of there couch eating pringles, the good thing about those guys is you can get a pretty good laugh from reading there idiotic comments.I for instance have a blast reading the ignorance that people write about one of the videos i’ve uploaded.

  10. youfubehotline says:

  11. youneedpeoplelikeme says:

Hey guys, I have been wondering what the best way to get into MMA is. I currently have been taking boxing for about 2 months now and believe it is good to give you the basic tools and endurance to expand into other fighting styles and techniques.
    Any tips or info?
    Opinions welcome
    Thanks

  12. mikereis77 says:

You’re very correct that they both use “Mixed Martial Arts” as a principle concept. I think the biggest reason is the fact here in the States MMA has become ordained as the sport combative we see in UFC. It’s all in how you train, not what you’re training in. Great stuff Richie!

  13. Kretin69 says:

You crack me up man! Im gonna sign up because your one big mofo and I want to be just like you!

my ex gf was a physio and got me through it and it was healed

but I went back to kickboxing this year and in August I tore it again doing a high right head kick, I had socks on and my left foot stuck to the mat as I tried to twist to sink the kick in

my whole leg just bent the wrong way at the knee, the guy who runs the gym has it on video, I scream like a girl

so, its “fixed” in it never pops normally

but unless I drop 10 to 20 kgs pounds I think my days of flick kicky are over!

  16. KaseyAkira says:

Actually, I’m a trainer and a specialist in martial arts conditioning… but I’m not qualified in physio-therapy… you’d have to fix your injury before I’d go anywhere near training you!

  17. FionnMcc says:

what the hell you been eating… i guess it must be the vest?

  18. 1outlawz says:

Oh man that sounds so nasty, hope it heals ok for you. I dont know. you know what its like when your training and you get caught up in the moment, it doesnt seem worth it to risk it. what a shame. Peace dude and enjoy the rest of your time there!

  19. streetfightsecrets says:

It is beautiful here yep, are there good trainers here? I havent a clue! lol! Until my knee gets fully better Im sticking to weights

I have a “plant and twist” injury to my illiotibial band and any kind of boxing, kicking (dancing even!) just pops it right out again- whats scary now is, when it pops out it doesnt even hurt anymore

so, I may go get a personal one to one MT session and try and explain my injury and go super light – I mean I can NOT be in thailand and not do a bit right? lol!

  20. 1outlawz says:

Unfortunatly I never got the chance to see koh samui, even though I was in Thailand for 10 months. I here its beautiful. Is there many good trainers there? I was situated in Patong, Phuket and fought at the old Bangla Stadium. I was suppossed to fight on the opening night of the new stadium that was built, but it wasn’t finished in time and I had to go home. Shame. so far it would of been the highlight of my career. Your not missing anything, Englands freezing. how long you out there for?

  21. streetfightsecrets says:

“some people just have to be disregarded”

I should get that printed on a t-shirt

I teach it and preach it, but I still sometimes forget it

    too soft hearted me ;)

  22. streetfightsecrets says:

    @SOundBite

I agree with “bouncingboredom”- you shouldnt generalise too much, many “combatives” folk have a good strong work ethic and many many also practise MMA, for what that is worth

@Mothofacowboy – ABSOLUTELY and thanks for saying it, just because you “do MMA” doesnt mean you are any good at it, EVEN if you compete, there are shitty shitty practitoners and even shitty shitty fighters

Nothing “magick” about attending an MMA class.

The individual human is skilled to task or not.

  23. streetfightsecrets says:

I agree to an extent but lets be rigorous and force ourselves to filter by qualifying:

MANY of the “combatives” practitioners Ive PERSONALLY met seem weaker and less coordinated than many of the “MMA” practitoners Ive met

and thats not to say I dont know “combatives guys” who are beasts and “MMA guys” who are absolute floppy dog shit
