By “feat” I mean realistic moves or maneuvers. For example, there are schools of martial arts all over Asia, where guys practice getting hit with thick wooden staffs. I also like brick-breaking. What else is there?
Please don’t respond with stuff from movies like walking on water and jumping over houses.

Is it the same in all disciplines of martial arts? The same name or the same gesture?
I’m curious because I saw a demonstration over the weekend, and it seemed like all of the students just kind of blew it off at the end of their routines, as just knuckles together, a half nod of the head, turn and exit, all in one motion. I always thought it was a move like any other and the same importance as the landing in gymnasitcs. It just struck me that if parents are sending their kids to this studio to learn discipline and self-confidence, this kind of hasty exit showed neither.
But then I’m just a couch potato, myself, what do I know?
Eileezy: that was the impression I had, that the young students were tired and just grateful to get out of the spotlight. And I agree, it shouldn’t be an excuse, any more than it is in gymnastics.

Many karate schools start at 6, while others 12, and still others only teach adults. What is too young? At what age will kids receive any benefit from martial arts study? At what age will the senseis feel comfortable enough to teach good combat technique?

I am interested in getting back into martial arts. I already know the form that I want to study which Kenpo and I had already received a blue belt from my former studies. So what are some tips for finding good adult martial arts instruction?
