I think xkaliber72 put it in a way that they are using both iaido and kendo. kendo uses a Shinai, these japanesse cops are using katana swords. Both of you guys are correct, if i was learning how to use a katana sword then i would want to learn how to draw and cut and then also learn how to use it after the cut. what if there are more then one person you need to fight.

ı just dont understand why you guys comparing these dudes with kendo and iaido applicants … they are just soldiers who use swords …. not “do” praticioners…

Noone was using iaido………iaido is the art of drawing the sword and cutting in one motion its a battou-jutsu…these dudes already had there swords draw out, so its ken-jutsu or kendo only. you newbie lol

not true.although the opponent with the Katana does have tyhe advantage,it is not unreslistic for the unarmed man to to win.matter fact the man with the weapon often times is so comfortable with the fact he’s armed he takes his adversary for granted.happens all the time.
The combatant with the long range weapon HAS to be with the advantage. This is pure fantasy. When faced with a weapon, no human being can ever have such fine control over their actions.

i agree, it is very difficult. but the best results come out when you keep you’re cool and use your head.
Human nature, very difficult to achieve perfect balance especially under stress or combat pressure.
True, but what’s interesting is the lack of balance in each fighter. Taikan’s lack of balance is obvious from the very beginning, he’s way too aggressive. But as the movie goes on, we find that Giryu is way too passive, he wouldn’t stand up for the family that took him in and nursed his wounds. Though both had great skill, they were still in need of maturity and balance.
One is an offensive fighter the other a defensive fighter, excellent demonstration of true traditional martial art, in this case karate.

i finally bought the movie and it was AMAZING. i have no problem watching it over and over again.
Yes. It showed the first sign of deviation from Taikan. What Giryu showed is that you can still end a fight with a block.
This movie is crazy going to buy this !!!!

“kuroi” means something “is black”. Just plain “kuro” means black.
