HELP ME! Can someone find my IP adress through AIM? And does that mean they will have my address and info?
This man has been harassing me on AIM. And he said he found my address and he was going to kill me.
Is it possible for someone to pin point my exact location through AIM? Or is he mistaken? Was this just to scare me?
It’s making me sick. It’s all I can think about.
Can someone please help me out?

This sort of thing has happened before, they don’t do anything but call the person and say HEYSTOPTHAT! And I don’t have his phone number, so what good does that do me?

Your IP is given to you by your ISP.
It is the net address given to your computer.
It is uniquely yours and distinguishable from all others.
This does not mean that your ISP is going to divulge the exact location of the IP to anyone that asks for it.
Most IP are dynamic and change often. You can feel secure that this person will not find you from your IP alone.
Only Government agencies have that type of clout and they won’t abuse it but since the Patriot Act was initiated, it is that much easier for the Government agencies to get that type of information. Unless this guy works for the FBI or something, your quite safe.
